Gallagher GBUS to HBUS and Controller 7000 modernisation with 87 Suprema biometric readers, delivered in phases in a live bank.

Services

Access control is rarely one product. A working system is a credential, a reader, a controller, a door or barrier, a network, a software platform and a set of rules about who goes where and when. IDtek supplies and installs all of it.

IDtek holds certifications on every platform in this table and is an accredited partner to each vendor.
Access control in a data centre is a chain of custody, not a door lock. IDtek has delivered electronic security on six of the largest data centres in South Africa, on Lenel, AMAG Symmetry and C-CURE, including Tier III and Tier IV facilities. We build layered access from perimeter to cabinet with multi-factor authentication, anti-tailgating mantraps, role-based access, rack-level electronic locking, camera verification of every door event, redundancy and a full audit trail, all inside the operator's uptime and change-control rules.
Absa, the Reserve Bank of Malawi, one of South Africa's largest banks on C-CURE, and a major Ugandan bank where IDtek kept Gallagher as the core platform while migrating GBUS to HBUS, introducing Controller 7000 and integrating 87 Suprema biometric readers, all in phases with 162 scheduled reader changeovers inside an operating bank.
Seven South African universities run IDtek access control: Pretoria, the Witwatersrand, Stellenbosch, the Free State, Johannesburg, UCT and UNISA. For one leading university's engineering faculty, IDtek has delivered more than 300 Impro doors between 2018 and 2026, alongside 300+ Axis cameras and around 10,000 Cat6A network points. The University of Pretoria was migrated onto a new biometric platform on a live campus.
DHL Stadium, a venue of up to 55,000 people, where IDtek has been principal contractor for fire and access since January 2018. Back-of-house doors run on Schneider Electric Security Expert, spectator entry on 88 turnstiles with SKIDATA Flex.Gate readers, and hospitality suites on VingCard locks, with door and shutter interfaces to the fire system, all supported through event days.
IDtek has delivered access control on mine sites in Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Liberia and Ethiopia, including Gallagher at New Liberty Gold Mine and Roxgold. Mine access control has to survive dust, heat and vibration, handle shift headcount, gate on induction and medical compliance, and control vehicles with licence plate recognition. Controllers run autonomously where connectivity is intermittent, and multi-mine groups report into one platform.
Absa, Old Mutual Head Office Sandton, Sasol Head Office, The Marc, 22 Bree Street and the CTICC, on Lenel OnGuard and Gallagher. For a global contact-centre provider, IDtek installed client-specified C-CURE across 48 doors at two Cape Town facilities, in phases around live operations and integrated with Avigilon CCTV, fire detection and gas suppression.
Sasol, Engen Fuel Depot, Boshof Solar Plant and various solar farms. Contractor compliance gating and muster reporting on petrochemical sites. On remote solar sites, access control is integrated with perimeter detection and CCTV and monitored centrally, with field equipment protected against lightning and surges.
Steyn City and Clara Anna Fontein, on Gallagher. Resident, staff, contractor and visitor access on one system, licence plate recognition at the gates, and integration with perimeter detection and Milestone estate CCTV.
The Yacht Club and Marriott Hotel, on Tyco. Hotel, residential and commercial tenants with different access rules sharing one building and one life safety system.
City Power Johannesburg, the Department of Environmental Affairs and Saint Helena Airport, with substation zoning and suppression events integrated with access control at City Power in line with the approved cause-and-effect design. For multinational companies with branches across South Africa, IDtek runs C-CURE estates nationally from one platform and one maintenance contract.
IDtek is ISO 9001:2015 certified, registered with the Construction Industry Development Board at Level 7SF, registered with PSIRA, and B-BBEE Level 3, and holds certifications on every access control platform it supplies and installs.

IDtek is a certified Lenel partner that supplies, installs, integrates and supports Lenel OnGuard enterprise access control, with references including Old Mutual Head Office in Sandton, City Power Johannesburg and several data centres. We also migrate existing access control systems onto OnGuard and integrate it with enterprise video management.
Yes. IDtek is a certified Gallagher partner, with Gallagher delivered at Steyn City and The Marc in Gauteng, Clara Anna Fontein in the Western Cape, mine sites in Liberia and Burkina Faso, and a Gallagher HBUS and Controller 7000 modernisation for a major Ugandan bank.
IDtek supplies and installs Software House C-CURE, including for a global contact-centre provider at two Cape Town facilities, where C-CURE runs on iSTAR Ultra G2 and iSTAR Edge G2 controllers with HID readers, integrated with Avigilon CCTV, Ziton fire detection and IG541 gas suppression.
Often, yes. Whether readers, controllers and credentials can be kept depends on the installed hardware and the target platform, so IDtek starts with an audit of the installed base. The migration is then designed in phases, tested in a controlled laboratory-type environment, run in parallel with the existing system and cut over area by area, with the lowest-risk areas first. IDtek also migrates Impro estates to Gallagher or Lenel.
Yes. IDtek has integrated 87 Suprema BioEntry W2 dual RFID and fingerprint readers into a Gallagher environment for a major Ugandan bank, with desktop enrolment at the head end, delivered alongside a Gallagher HBUS and Controller 7000 upgrade.
Yes. At Steyn City, Gallagher access control runs integrated with Milestone video management, so a door event calls up verified video and a forced-door alarm arrives with footage. How much information two systems share depends on the manufacturers chosen, which is why IDtek settles integration at design stage.
Layered access from perimeter to cabinet, multi-factor authentication, anti-tailgating mantraps, role-based access, rack-level electronic locking, CCTV verification of every door event, redundancy so no single failure opens a boundary, and a full audit trail, installed and maintained inside the operator’s uptime and change-control rules.
Cost is driven by the number of controlled doors, the credential type and the software platform, not by the size of the building. A controlled door with a new controller, lock, egress hardware, cabling and licensing costs far more than a reader on an existing door, and biometric readers cost more than card readers. IDtek quotes off a door schedule, so the first step is counting doors and deciding which are controlled, monitored or offer a free exit.
A typical 50-door installation takes up to three weeks, and with 82 vehicles and 140 technical resources IDtek can expedite that to suit the client. Equipment supply is usually the long lead item. Multi-building campuses and live-site migrations are phased over months around occupancy.
Yes. Most of IDtek’s work is on live sites. New infrastructure runs in parallel, is developed and tested in a controlled laboratory-type environment first, and is cut over door by door with the least risky areas first, so no door is ever without a working means of access.
Yes, but it is regulated. Biometric data is personal information, so you need a lawful basis, notice, security and a retention limit. Reputable systems do not store a picture of your fingerprint or face. They convert it into an encrypted mathematical template, encrypted at rest and in transit, and IDtek specifies systems that work this way and restricts who can export data.
Systems are maintained under SLA with preventive maintenance, defined response times and local spares, tailored to the client’s uptime requirements. Access control is not fit-and-forget: networks and mains power fail, credentials drift out of date, and a system nobody administers becomes a list of people who no longer work there.
