Services

A working AV system is displays, audio, control, content distribution and the network under it, designed around who uses the room. IDtek supplies and installs all of it.

The University of the Free State, with more than 200 venues on Crestron, the University of the Witwatersrand, and more than 30 classrooms on Crestron, Clevertouch and Epson for a leading South African university's engineering faculty. Teaching venues need systems a lecturer can run without support, capture for students not in the room, and a standard room build so every venue behaves the same way.
DHL Stadium, a venue of up to 55,000 people, where IDtek covers public address, two LED big screens, two scoreboards, digital signage, 290 IPTV displays and 12 conference and breakaway rooms, supported from the PA Control Room with pre-event checks and live-event support. The PA system hands over to evacuation messaging when the fire system calls for it.
Parliament, on Crestron and Extron. Council chambers and parliamentary venues need conference and delegate systems, recording and broadcast feeds, and AV that works in sessions that cannot be rescheduled.
The Cape Town International Convention Centre, where AV is one of nine integrated IDtek systems. Venue AV has to support many simultaneous configurations, hand over control to visiting production teams, and interface cleanly with public address and evacuation, which always takes priority.
Absa and corporate estates. Enterprise AV is judged on two things: every room works the same way, and facilities can see which rooms are failing without walking the floors. IDtek builds a standard design per room type, repeats it across the estate, and monitors rooms remotely where uptime matters.
Conference and banqueting venues, boardrooms for hire, background music and paging, and digital signage, reset quickly between events and run by hotel staff. IDtek also supplies and installs the CCTV, access control, fire, networking and BMS on hospitality sites, so a new hotel can appoint one technology partner.
Video walls in security and operations control rooms, fed from surveillance, access control and building management. This is where IDtek's AV and security capability meet.
IDtek is ISO 9001:2015 certified, registered with the Construction Industry Development Board at Level 7SF, registered with PSIRA, and B-BBEE Level 3.

Crestron-based audio visual in more than 200 venues, alongside access control and CCTV.

AV in 30+ classrooms on Crestron, Clevertouch and Epson, delivered with the faculty's network, access control and CCTV.
What happens in the room, how many people, what they need to see and hear, and who operates it.
Display sizing and sightlines, audio coverage, control interface, furniture layout, rack and cabling, network and power requirements.
Equipment procured through vendor channels, with local warranty and spares.
Mounting, cabling and containment, rack build, network and power termination.
Audio calibration, display alignment, control programming and testing, verified against the design.
User and administrator training for the people who will run the room, plus as-built documentation.
Scheduled checks and firmware management, with SLA response times adapted to each client and remote room monitoring where uptime is paramount.
IDtek supplies, installs and programs Crestron AV systems, and is the Crestron integrator behind more than 200 venues at the University of the Free State, with Crestron also at Parliament, DHL Stadium’s conference rooms and 30+ classrooms for a leading university’s engineering faculty. We design standard Crestron room builds that repeat across campuses and corporate estates.
IDtek supplies and installs Extron switching, distribution and control, including at Parliament, and Televic conference and delegate systems for council chambers and conference venues.
IDtek is appointed for AV at DHL Stadium, covering public address with 68 amplifiers and 124 loudspeakers, two Barco LED big screens, two scoreboards, digital signage and 290 IPTV displays on Exterity, with event-day support from the PA Control Room.
Cost follows the room, not the floor area. A meeting room with a display, camera and table microphones sits at one end, an auditorium with projection, line array, radio microphones, capture and control at the other, and the audio design usually costs more than the screens. IDtek quotes from a room schedule that states what each space has to do.
Usually because the room was fitted rather than designed: microphones placed for cable convenience, no acoustic treatment in a glass room, a display sized for the drawing rather than the back row, a network never sized for video. Replacing equipment without fixing those does not help, which is why IDtek starts from a room survey.
Sometimes, and it should be checked rather than assumed. Conferencing, streaming and AV-over-IP are bandwidth-heavy and latency-sensitive, and behave greedily on a busy network. IDtek calculates the load at design stage and specifies dedicated capacity or segmentation, on the same bandwidth calculations and network topology drawings where we also install the network.
Yes. Occupancy detection that powers rooms down, room booking tied to access control, video walls fed from surveillance and building management, and PA that hands over to voice evacuation when the fire system calls for it. IDtek installs those systems too, so the interfaces are designed rather than retrofitted.
Yes, subject to a survey. Mainstream platforms such as Crestron, Extron and Shure are supportable, and at DHL Stadium IDtek maintains and is modernising a multi-vendor estate. Systems with no documentation, no control source code or discontinued hardware can usually only be supported on a best-efforts basis, and we say so up front.
That is a design input. A room used by visiting presenters needs a control interface with almost no options, while a production-managed venue can carry far more. IDtek sets the control design from who will actually be in the room and trains those people at handover.
Individual rooms are fast once equipment is on site. Supply and building work, such as containment, power, mounting structure or acoustic treatment, are the long lead items. Campus rollouts are phased so a standard room build is proven in the first venue before it is repeated.
